Memorial Day Weekend Recipe Ideas – {Five Recipe Friday}

Memorial Day Weekend Recipes Picnic Food Ideas

With this evening being the start of a long holiday weekend for Memorial Day celebrations, I thought I’d give you a Five Ingredient Friday that is really a Five Recipe Friday for your weekend cooking. The links to the original posts are included for your easy reference to the recipes.

The first recipe is a real favourite and frequently visited page on The Saucy Southerner; it’s for Southern-Style Mustard Potato Salad. This potato salad is packed with hard-cooked eggs and that is what makes a true, genuine, traditional, Southern potato salad great. I’ll be eternally thankful to my friend Jack for sharing with me the “secret” to perfect Southern-Style Mustard Potato Salad…and to my friend Melissa and her husband Steve for improving it further.

Next up is a BBQ sauce that is packed with flavour. It’s Tomato and Vinegar based; it’s sweet and tangy and spicy. It’s simple to make and it keeps in the refrigerator for a long time. If you’re smoking or grilling this weekend, this recipe for BBQ Saucy – Tomato Vinegar Sweet and Spicy needs to be on your Q.

The third recipe in the lineup is for burgers. These are Mediterranean-Style Burgers with onions, Feta cheese, and seasoning all through the burger. You can use the same seasoning method with any flavours you may like; it really enhances the burger to get the seasoning all through the meat, instead of just on the outside.

It just wouldn’t be a picnic without deviled eggs! This recipe for deviled eggs gives you a really wonderful twist on the old favourite; it’s such an amazing combination that will delight all the deviled egg lovers at your gathering. Roasted Red Pepper and Feta Deviled Eggs.

The fifth and final offering is a wonderful dip that you can throw out with vegetables, crackers/bread, or chips to stave off the hungry hordes while you work your grill magic. Spinach Artichoke Dip is just fabulous…and sort of healthy.

About P ~ The Saucy Southerner

I started cooking when I was ten years old. For me, the process of cooking, from inception of a dish, to the execution, to the washing of the pots is sheer delight.

I am now retired from a business I still own, in partnership with my husband. I used to work six days a week and still cook every night. Now, I’m gardening, still cooking, always having fun and hoping to share my joy with you. Thank you for reading…and commenting! P~
